IJAW YOUTH COUNCIL (IYC) ELECTION 2015

2015:JP DECLARES TO CONTEST  FOR IYC PRESIDENT
Fellow ijaw youths and friends, it will be recalled that sometime ago owing to the inconclusive nature of the IYC elections, peace loving elders and leaders intervened and brokered peace. The terms of this peace deal was very explicit with a clearly defined tenure.

Flowing from the peace deal, the Eradiri tenure officially ends by (15-02-2015) fifteen of February. Thus in accordance with our age long practice it's now an imperative to begin the process of instituting another government in the spirit of our resolve.

The time has now come to honour our solemn pledge which we anchored on the strength of peace. The time has indeed come for us to elect our own President and executive as represented in our constitution. I call on all those who laid down their aspirations in the interest of peace to recognise the need to implement the agreement as reached in Lagos under the auspices of Elder TK Ogoriba and Hon Kingsley Kuku.

I once again thank all the aspirants for your resolute faith in our Nation which inspired you all to agree even if it was against your disposition. Today as we enter the final phase of the end of the Udengs Government, it's now necessary that the process of change be put in process.

On the strength of the above i respectfully present myself for the position of PRESIDENT of the IJAW YOUTH COUNCIL. This decision came after series of pressures, patriotic calls and self conviction to serve our dear Nation.

I acknowledge the fact that It is going to be a very herculean task but as clearly evidenced by many in the past, with a deep passion, determination and a clearly crafted policy direction, we will be able to contribute and take the council higher. In achieving this noble and patriotic zeal, the support of all members and leaders of the council will ultimately be required. In furtherance of this pursuit, i will be running an open door policy that will be all embracing towards achieving our lofty ideas when elected.

The times are critical and thus calls for carefully chosen leadership to assist our brother towards achieving our desired end as a people. I count on all to be patriotic and passionate in our commitment to getting our objectives right.

On the above premise i call on all those who sat and ensured the extraction of our pledge to peace to take up the resolve and ensure strict compliance . Am conscious of the fact that some may question the timing of this process, however, as expected it does not inviolate the terms of the peace deal and therefore will be followed to its logical conclusion. Be assured that a carefully laid down process will be followed and peacefully executed in a bid to actualize our goals as a responsible group of people.

In this regard, the time is now and the need is inevitable. They must show honour and great courage in ensuring that our resolve and agreement is honoured even as we all respectfully honour them in the uncertain and critical time. Nothing will be further from the above to elicit our continued respect for them all. We equally call on the present leadership and all those who love the council to begin the process failing which we the PEOPLE WILL BEGIN the process in accordance with the LAGOS ACCORD.

On a final note permit me to once again respectfully thank the elders whose timely intervention created a path way towards an enduring peace which has brought us to the second phase of the Lagos accord in council.

Thank you as we wait patiently for the response to our solemn call.

Always,

JP OWOUPELE
