A HANDING OVER ADDRESS PRESENTED BY COMRADE OBIRI EBILADE, THE OUTGOING NATIONAL PRESIDENT, NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF DELTA STATE STUDENTS (NADESSTU) ON THE 2015 INAUGURATION CEREMONY OF THE NEW LEADERSHIP OF THE ASSOCIATION
I can remember with nostalgia how I took oath of office as National President of NADESSTU in this same Labour Hall. That oath of office came with leadership challenges and prospects, in line with the vision laid by our Founding Fathers. To me it was both a privilege and avenue to gather requisite experience for future leadership.

| COMRADE OBIRI EBILADE |
On a wonderful day like this where I will be handing over the baton of leadership to a new crop of leaders, it is very imperative that I first and foremost express my utmost gratitude to the Almighty God who made my vision of becoming a National president of NADESSTU a reality and for sustaining me while I plied Abuja to Asaba route almost every fortnight in discharging my obligation to Delta State Students. God used several personalities to help me achieve this dream, prominent amongst which includes; Comrade Elijah Ologe, Comrade Mike Akpobire, Comrade Reuben Izeze, Comrade Collins Ayabotu, Comrade Osadebe Uche, Comrade Samuel Besidone Eyengho (jnr.)and a host of others too numerous to mention.
I want to specially thank the two Honourable commissioners for Higher Education, which I served under in my period in office; Prof. Hope Eghagha and Hon. Charles Emetulu, who were both father-figures to me, while not forgetting the Chairman and the Executive Secretary of the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board; Mosignor Buchi Aninye and Mr. Peter Amromanoh. It will be fool-hardy for me to forget my brother and friend who God used to prepare the way for me in attaining this great Office; Comrade Godwin Ovuomaraini a.k.a. Biggest Gee. The long list of those I owe my gratitude includes my friends; Comrade Lucky Emonefe, Comrade Okoh Ezekiel, Comrade Prince Koyoyo, Comrade Abebe Martins, whose solidarity to me was indeed unquantifiable.
As I take a bow at this moment, history and posterity will not forgive me if I fail to recognize the huge passion our immediate past Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan showed the Students Community in Delta State. Though, time will not permit me to recount all the numerous things he did for us, we are indeed grateful to God for giving us another Students Friendly Governor in the person of Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, who while less than a month in office provided all necessary resources for us to carry out the smooth transition we are witnessing today.
Since in a matter of minutes, I will be joining the league of past Presidents of NADESSTU, it is pertinent for me to congratulate the incoming leadership led by Comrade Shaka Emomine, while urging them to keep the flag of the Association flying and be worthy Ambassadors of our dear State.
On my inaugural speech I promised to introduce a new school of thought in aluta, I referred to as Scientific Aluta, which gives primacy to dialogue rather than confrontation, that principle I did my best to entrench and I hope the incoming Leadership will maintain its value. I also introduced the NADESSTU Dinner/Award Programme, a programme aimed at bringing Delta State Students to dine together annually while celebrating the unity in the midst of our diversity.
Like every leadership position, my period in office as President also did not come without challenges, but the beauty of it is that I am leaving behind a one united NADESSTU.
However, I wish to use this ample opportunity to apologize to all those whom I might have offended with both my official and personal actions and inactions during my period in office. I take personal responsibility in any perceived area of leadership ineptitude from my term in office. But one thing is true, my experiences as NADESSTU President has braced me up for future leadership responsibilities.
While I commend Delta State Students for the patience and maturity they have exhibited so far in the delay of the payment of the 2013/2014 bursary, I appeal to the new Government in Delta State to commence payment as soon as possible.
Finally, I wish to thank the entire Senate and Members of NADESSTU who elected me to serve them, while also making my team of executives who worked in unison with me to discharge our duties to Delta State Students. Let us always remember that what unites us is greater than what can divide us, for the bond of brotherhood that keeps us together as Delta State Students is the hope we have in creating a united Delta State tomorrow.
I thank everyone who has made this day a possibility, especially the Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly Comrade (Hon.) Friday Osanebi, who out of his passion and support Delta State Students left all his official engagements to be here with us.
God bless you all!
Long Live National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU)!
Long Live Delta State!
Long Live The Federal Republic of Nigeria!
Comrade Obiri Ebilade
Outgoing National President NADESSTU
