EXTOLMENT TO THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE IMMEDIATE PAST NIGERIA GOVERNMENT LED BY HIS EXCELLENCY DR. GOODLUCK AZIKIWE JONATHAN (GCFR) FOR THEIR ULTIMATE CONTRIBUTION FOR THE NIGERIA SEAFARERS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (NSDP).

With a great sense of joy, I want to use this golden opportunity to extend my profound gratitude to the administration of the immediate past Nigeria government for their valuable contribution for the Nigeria Seafarers Development Programme (NSDP) in collaboration with the Nigeria Maritime regulatory body NIMASA.

I am very enthusiastic for this youth development initiative by the ex-president DR. GOODLUCK EBELE AZIKIWE JONATHAN to enhance the standard of the maritime sector in the country. At the same time, I want toappreciate the industrious effort of the Director General of Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) DR.  ZIAKEDE PATRICK AKPOBOLOUKEMI, the ex-minister of Transportation SENATOR IDRIS UMAR and the coordinator of the Nigeria Seafarers Development Programme (NSDP) MRS. IRENE MACFOY for their impacts to make this epoch programme come to reality.

The main purpose of this programme is to train and develop youths to become competent Seafarers that will be in-charge of the Nigeria maritime Industry. For that reason examinations were conducted in the Six Geo-political zones of the country to pick out the most outstanding students and they were being sent to different countries to study Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation/Nautical Science and Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture.

It is indeed a great honor to be part of this youth developmental project andI’m very glad to find myself here in Philippines the leading country supplier of maritime manpower in the world. Thanks to the Federal government and NIMASA for making my dreams and others come to reality. We always promise to be at our good behavior and Ambassadorship to continue with our excellent academical performances and promoting our great nation in every category.
I’m very optimistic that, the agency (NIMASA) and the Federal Government have a good and greater plan for us regards to our one year onboard cadet-ship trainingbecause without that we haven’t accomplished our various maritime courses and that is the most essential aspect of this professsion and in other for us to obtain the Certificate of Competency (COC) as required by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

As a beneficiary of this programme I’m using this medium to call on thepresent Government of the country to continue with this life changing Youth empowerment programme to continue to ameliorate the manpower and standardized the Maritime sector in the country.

This statement is signed by Cadet Bamuza Joshua Ayaogbo, a beneficiary of the Nigeria Seafarers Development Programme (NSDP) studying Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation at Lyceum International Maritime academy (LIMA) in Philippines.
